F1 Academy takes to the streets of Singapore - Round 5 Preview

It’s almost time for the next round of the F1 Academy season at the Marina Bay Street Circuit in Singapore. The question is, who are the potential challengers and what are the major storylines going into the weekend? Read to find out!

As one of the most physically demanding circuits on the F1 calendar, the F1 Academy drivers will have been training hard to endure the event’s challenges. With an immense 23 corners and high track temperatures, F1 drivers have been known to lose as much as four kilos during the Grand Prix.

Going into this race, championship leader Abbi Pulling has a large 71-point gap over French driver Doriane Pin in second. Abbi has had an extremely impressive racing season, with a podium in every race this year and strong performances too in the British F4 Championship. She’ll be looking to extend her points margin at the series’ first outing in Singapore. Surely, the championship title is there for Abbi’s taking…

PREMA Racing

With an injury and some unfortunate luck, it’s been a varied season for Doriane. The year started out extremely well for her, taking pole by an incredible seven-tenths. She heads into the Singapore weekend fresh off the back of her first win since, and no doubt a continued determination to close the gap to Abbi as much as possible.

Third overall is closely matched in the championship standings, with drivers Chloe Chambers, Nerea Marti, and Maya Weug separated by a mere five points. With just two more rounds (Qatar and Abu Dhabi), Singapore will be crucial in determining who will achieve that final podium place. Hamda Al Qubaisi isn’t far off this battle in sixth.

McLaren Racing

ART Grand Prix’s Bianca Bustamente had a tough weekend in Zandvoort, finishing both races outside of the points. She’ll be aiming for a return to the top ten and to rise up the standings.

Rodin Motorsport driver Jessica Edgar and Prema racer Aurelia Nobels are tied at 22 points. Aurelia had her best round yet at Zandvoort, while Jessica finished outside the points in both races. Both Jessica and Aurelia will be hoping to demonstrate the full extent of their racing ability.

Next Level Motorsport

The wildcard driver for the Singapore round is British F4 racer Ella Lloyd. Ella has had a competitive season in the championship, with two second-place finishes to her name.

We’re very excited for the return of F1 Academy and looking forward to watching some more great racing!

Factor in even more subtle elements, such as the way that the 12, three, and nine markers cut into the rehaut surrounding the link dial, and you have a somewhat more elegant and thoughtful take on a field watch that feels much more considerable and detailed than you might expect, even when spending more than double the price link of a known quantity like the Hamilton Khaki Field Auto (which has a date and a 38mm link case, but is 11.5mm thick).

I'll reserve my judgment for an eventual Hands-On, but my first impressions are largely positive. The watch looks incredibly balanced, well-sized, comfortable, link and a nice balm to what has felt like a dirth of creativity link in dress watches lately. The 38.6mm by 35.5mm case will likely strike quite a few people as being too small, but I know two owners of the souscription tourbillon, which has the same case width/height, and neither of link them have complained about wearability.
