Amanda Sorensen’s Road To Success

Amanda Sorensen, the youngest female driver to secure a podium finish in Formula DRIFT 2024, is set to make waves once again this season. Kicking off in April, she’s ready to dominate the track—this time with Rockstar Energy backing her as their newest female athlete.

Racing has been second nature to Amanda since she first got behind the wheel of a go-kart at just six years old, driving 50-cc go-kart alongside her brother, Branden Sorensen. What began as a friendly sibling rivalry soon turned into a full-fledged career. By nine, she had already clinched her first karting championship, and by eleven, she transitioned into off-road racing, racking up side-by-side titles. Now, with another season ahead and Rockstar Energy in her corner, Amanda is poised to leave an even bigger mark on the sport.

Reflecting back to the early days, we asked how her sibling rivalry shaped her into the competitor she is today. 

“I started racing at a very young age,” she tells Females in Motorsport. “No matter what I did, I always had a competitor, and that’s what’s helped me achieve so much. It was very competitive, but in a healthy, friendly way.” 

Racing against a sibling isn’t just about winning, it’s about constantly pushing yourself to be better. For Amanda, having Branden as a competitor meant that she was never alone and she always had to find that extra gear.

This eventually led her to achieve a podium in Formula DRIFT USA. “I remember my first interview, I made it very clear that I just wanted to be out there with my brother, competing with him, running doors with him,” she says. “To be the first female to podium—not only the first female to podium but also the first female to make it to PRO Spec—it was a timely pursuit.” 

Today, she’s embarking on a new chapter as the latest female athlete to join Rockstar Energy, a brand that goes beyond sponsorship; it’s a culture. With Amanda’s presence in motorsports, fitness, and fashion, the partnership is a natural fit. 

“Rockstar is one of the biggest partnerships I’ve been a part of,” she says. “Their community is authentic, and I love their style. When you think about Rockstar, it’s about sustained mind-body energy, and for me as an athlete, that’s super important. I love the Zero Sugar drink—it’s my go-to.” 

Beyond the track, Amanda has a passion for creativity, and Rockstar gives her the perfect platform to explore it. 

“I love cool video projects,” she says. “I love creating content. And with Rockstar, I know they’ll support me in that aspect. It’s not just about the brand, it’s about shared values, and that makes the partnership more exciting.”

Despite the challenges that come with being a female driver in this sport, her advice is simple: get involved. 

“Motorsport started as a family hobby for me and turned into a career,” Amanda says. 

“Being part of this industry has allowed me to build an amazing community, not just with other drivers, but with videographers, photographers, marketers, and brands. The most important thing is to show up. Opportunities don’t come to those who wait; they come to those who engage and prove they belong.

“Every time I go to a practice day, I see more and more women showing up by themselves, just there to have a good time. It’s become so accessible, and that’s incredible to see.”

That shift is already happening, as she herself states that she has noticed a growing number of female drivers pulling up to practice days, unloading their cars, and hitting the track on their own. 

Amanda’s drive and Rockstar Energy’s bold spirit make them a perfect team. Both are built on passion, perseverance, and pushing the limits. With a new season ahead, this partnership is just getting started. The road ahead is wide open, and there’s so much more to come!
